Contours Options Plus Tandem Stroller

Our Stroller Review

We give this stroller a rating of 4 / 5 stars based on our 7 critierias of what makes a great stroller. Read on to see why this stroller will suit your lifestyle and see
what's included.

Travel convenience:  The seats reverses to adapt to 7 different configurations so your two kids can both face you, face each other, both face forward or have them back to back.  The Contours Options Plus Tandem Stroller can also be used with only the front seat to create lots of storage when you plan to shop a lot that day.  your older child can hold on to the side handles while your baby sits in the stroller.  Whatever your plans or however your kids feel that day, you can figure out what seating arrangements they can have.  With 7 options, it makes life easier for you and your kids.

And when you need to fold the Contours Options Plus Tandem Stroller (46 lbs), all you need to do is push the trigger to release the stroller and fold the stroller to stand on it's wheels so the seats won't get dirty from the ground.

Safety:  All the strollers reviewed on www.strollerlife.com have a 5-point height adjustable harness - the safest harness any stroller can have! And with two 8" front swivel wheels and two 12" rear never-flat wheels means you won't need to inflate the wheels or get stranded with a flat wheel. Although the Quinny Buzz 2009 Three Wheel Stroller rear wheels are of high-quality, you still have to inflate them yourselves intially and check them periodically to make sure they are not flat. But one thing to note is when wheels are air-filled they actually give the stroller a smoother ride over rocks and unpaved roads, so think about where you will be taking your stroller mostly.

Contours Strollers are all  (the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association), they certify strollers on their restraint system, brakes, leg openings, and locking mechanisms that prevent accidental folding, as well as for stability and the absence of sharp edges. The program is voluntary, and models from uncertified companies may be as safe as those from certified ones. You can visit their website www.jpma.org. Bugaboo strollers, Baby Jogger Strollers and Maclaren strollers are the other brands that are also certified.

Mobility:   The two 8" front swivel wheel is great to use in the urban city because it's easy to turn, and when your weight capacity is up to 80 lbs (40 lbs per seat) you definitely need a stroller that turns well.  The Contours Options Plus Tandem Stroller is 25" wide compared to the BOB Duallie Strollers 30.8" width, so it's a great stroller to take to a grocery store without having to worry being in the way of other people.  Plus the larger 12" rear gives your stroller more stability during your walk so any bumpy road can still be a smooth ride for your baby.

Note the front wheel does not lock so it's not a jogging stroller like the BOB Jogging Stroller, it's made to go indoors like a shopping mall or outdoors like a paved road.

Durability:  Although the stroller is made of hard plastic, parents who have purchased the Contours Options Plus Tandem Stroller find it very sturdy. It's not made to go on a dirt trail or be in perfect shape if you throw it down the stairs. But if you use it frequently on paved roads or indoors it will last you for years to come - provided you make an effort to keep it in good shape. The best material for a stroller is the aeronautical-quality aluminum frame for Maclaren Strollers, but for a fraction of the price the Contours Options Plus Tandem Stroller does not come with an aluminum frame otherwise the price would be doubled if not more.

What parents will love:  For about $200 you can buy a stroller that seats two and have full of features. There are 7 options of seating arrangements you can place your kids in and if they like to walk there are side handles they can hold on to.  We also like to mention that none of the other strollers that we review here even comes with a cup holder except for Contours Strollers. Other expensive strollers like the Bugaboo have available cup holders that are purchased separately! Although the kids don't have a personal cup holder, you can keep their drinks in your cup holder - afterall you have 2!

A few things parents would appreciate is a stroller that is easy to clean and have lots of space below to store your things. The fabric of the stroller is constructed of a wind resistant and easy wipe high density nylon blend, it's brushed treatment adds softness while still being durable. As for the basket underneath the stroller, it has lots of room to place your baby's essentials plus shopping storage you will need when you take it out to run errands. If your purchases that day needs some more extra room, leave one of the seats at home or in the car and just use the extra space for your things!

As a safety precaution only use the reclined position until child can sit up unassisted. If you would like to use the Contours Options Plus Tandem Stroller for your newborn baby just place your car seat on the stroller, the infant car seat attachment fits most car seat brands on the market.

What your baby will love:  Babies are all about comfort and Contours is a brand recognized to place that as a top priority for their products.  The infant head rest is made with soft micro fleece fabric protects the baby's head and the sunrider canopy adjusts in all directions to block the sun (harmful UV rays).  The belly bar is easily removed for easy access to your baby, but when you do use it rest assure that it is well padded for your baby's comfort.  And whether your baby is facing you or the world, seat fully reclines when your baby feels like they want to take a nap.

And when the sun is out, to protect your baby from harmful UV rays the sunrider canopy adjusts in all directions to block the sun.  It adjusts for you so you don't have to.  So your baby will be a happy one when they are comfortable in their seat enjoying the smooth ride in the cool shade.

Kids are blessed when they have siblings to share their lives with, so let them face each other when they're having a good day or face apart if they're not getting along that day.  With a stroller that has a capacity of two, it means the whole family can go out and have a great time.  So enjoy this stroller together as a family.

What we don't love so much:  Everything about this stroller has been superb so far, the only complaint that parents have is that the Contours Options Plus Tandem Stroller is hard to close and is bulky when it is closed up. Part of what makes a great stroller is the it's maneuverability and it's convenience when putting it away. Out of the two the Contours Options Plus Tandem Stroller has got one right, which is a great stroller to take around the city but it is not the sleekest stroller to close. The main reason why that is so is because the stroller is made of hard plastic and not of an aluminum frame, but that is also why this stroller is a fraction of the price.

Another complaint is the stroller is too heavy, the Contours Options Plus Tandem Stroller is 46 lbs compared to BOB Duallie Strollers 32 lbs. But that means you will have to pay more than double the price to get a BOB! Plus it's only lighter because BOB Strollers are made for jogging while Contours Strollers are made for paved roads / shopping malls - which is easier to push than on a rugged terrain.
