Crib
Some new moms prefer a bassinet as it is cozier for the baby and you can use it in every room of your home.  However, bassinets are only used for your newborn up to a maximum of 6 months of age and then you would need to use a crib from there onwards up to 2 years old.  If you have a tight budget, using the crib from day one would help minimize purchasing multiple baby products.  Also, many moms find it helpful to set up the crib in their bedroom for the first 6 months so they can stay close to their new born, especially when feeding times comes around.  If you are adamant on using a bassinet, find one that can be detached from a stroller – thus having two functions for the price of one.  (E.g. “Pre-owned” Baby products
If you’re using a used baby product, it’s important to research the up to date safety standards under ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials).  We recommend JPMA Products certified products, and always be on alert for recall baby products (see www.cpsc.gov for updated list).

The recall includes 11 models of B.O.B.’s single and double jogging strollers sold at REI, buy buy Baby and other stores nationwide and on the Web at Babiesrus.com, Target.com and Amazon.com between April 2002 and February 2011.

What should you do?

Stop using the recalled strollers and remove the drawstring. If you have a Weather Shield or Sun Shield accessory, contact B.O.B. Trailers for a free canopy retrofit kit.

The strangulation hazard is a yellow/orange drawstring (look at photo) at the back of the canopy.

Make sure you check for the following:

- The name B.O.B. appears on the cargo basket under the stroller and on the front of the stroller.

- Check the serial number which is either stamped on the frame or on a white label against the list below.

In Melbourne, a 15-month old boy survived with minor injuries after being hit by an oncoming train at a railway station. The train driver acted quick enough as he spotted the stroller rolling off the platform and jammed his breaks immediately. He then quickly got out of the train and jump onto the platform to save the baby.
